  • Mt Rothwell Natural Capital Pty Ltd

    In 2020, The Tiverton Agricultural Impact Fund (TAIF) and Cleaner Climate Australia embarked on a journey of bringing Australian biodiversity protection into the mainstream. This collaboration resulted in the birthing of a Natural Capital Unit (NCU). A Natural Capital Unit is the intelligent coupling of a Verified Carbon Unit (VCU) with a Government certified Vegetation Unit. Each NCU encompasses the permanent and covenanted protection of 1m2 of Australian native habitat and the carbon offset equivalent of one-tonne of CO2. A NCU leverages the growing appetite for carbon neutrality and helps channel this momentum towards the protection of Australia’s rapidly diminishing endangered species.

    Impact:

    SDG-9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure – MRNC has created an innovative NCU that will lead industry towards sustainability.

    SDG-15 – Life on Land – The application of the NCU’s will lead towards healthy land encouraging biodiversity.

  • Mount Rothwell Conservation Centre

    At 473ha, Mt Rothwell Conservation Centre is Victoria’s largest feral predator-free eco system. The conservation centre runs tours, education programs and can be hired for conferences. It is a premier example where science meets eco tourism.

    SDG-15 – Life on Land – It is a sanctuary for the reintroduction of locally extinct species and regeneration of biodiversity.

    SDG-4 – Quality Education – The centre to supports education in nature and wildlife and the development of good science.

  • Wildbark - Mulligans Flat Centre

    The centre is currently under construction and planned to be open in Autumn 2022. It will be Canberra’s premier eco tourism and nature-based learning destination. It includes a café, event and nature education centre. It is the gateway to the Mulligans Flat predator free wildlife sanctuary. Key partners include the Woodlands and Wetlands Trust, the ACT Government, and the Australian National University. The 1200 Ha property is the largest of its kind in Australia.

    Impact:

  • Damselfly Investments Pty Ltd

    Damselfly investments is an entrepreneurial land acquisition investment vehicle that acquires land with a biodiversity focus, generating revenue through vegetation offsets. The business was established in September 2018. The company currently owns four land assets including:

    • Lake Powell – 2732 Murray Valley Highway, Lake Powell, Victoria

    • Launching Place – 190 Summerhill Road, Launching Place, Victoria

    • Mt Larwill – Smith Road Serviceton, Victoria

  • Alchera Farm

    Alchera farm is a 100acre farm wholly acquired by Dragonfly in 2018 to be leased to Freeland Pork to run its operation. The irrigated farm, located in Kyabram, Victoria, was previously a dairy farm and was acquired to manage the regeneration of soils and biodiversity. The farm has become a world class example of small scale, profitable farming integrated with biodiversity.

    Impact:

    The impacts of this asset are covered under Freeland Pork.

  • Freeland Pork Pty Ltd

    Freeland Pork was initially established as a farming, wholesale and retail operation for the sale of ethically raised, locally produced and hormone free pork. Since inception the business continues to grow as a wholesaler and retailer, but no longer grows its own pork. The business founded in 2018, via the cultivate farms program is based in Kyabram, Victoria.

    Impact:

    SDG-3 – Good health and wellbeing – The company produces hormone free, ethical meat, that is more healthy for those consuming it than factory farmed meat.

    SDG-15 – Life on Land – The farming methods deployed increased soil health and thus biodiversity.

    SDG-12 – Responsible Consumption and Production – The product is sustainably farmed.

  • Cultivate Farms

    Cultivate Farms is an Australian-founded world first profit-for-purpose company that aims to connect aspiring, next generation, regenerative farmers with investors to acquire and operate farms. The model includes a range of coaching products that eventually train aspiring farmers through to pitch for investment, and hopefully match to own and operate their own farm. Founded in 2016, the model has now been proven successful and will grow rapidly in Australia in partnership with Dragonfly as the funding partner for investing into the farms.

    Impact:

    SDG-4 – Quality Education – The business educates its program participants on how to pitch for capital to drive investment into small scale regenerative farming.

    SDG-11: Sustainable Cities and Communities – Bringing next generation farmers into depleted and shrinking rural communities occurs as a direct results of getting next generation farmers onto their own land.

    SDG-15 – Life on Land – Regenerative farming practices have a direct link to better soil health and the regeneration of biodiversity.

  • Charles and Gamon (Westside Beverages Pty Ltd)

    Charles and Gamon is restaurant and bar in Seddon, Victoria. It was founded June 2020. The restaurant is not an impact venture as such, however was set up in partnership with Dragonfly to develop the successful running of hospitality businesses. The logical reasoning behind this was that Dragonfly’s other ventures have hospitality included ie. Skyfarm and Mulligans Flat, and that Dragonfly would need to operate these. The business has turned out to be a success and will be expanded to multi-site operations in time.

    Impact:

    This company is not specifically an “impact venture” in the pure terms. However will support the success of various impact ventures within the Dragonfly portfolio thus having an indirect impact on many SDG’s.

    Dasyurus is an investment vehicle focusing on eco tourism, education, outreach, eco hospitality, and advisory for similar ventures and investments across Australia.
