We are pleased to announce our investment in Trace via our Impact Growth Fund. Trace is a digital platform that helps individuals and businesses measure, reduce and offset their carbon footprint and track their impact over time through simple and engaging digital tools.
On a mission to remove the barriers to becoming carbon neutral, Trace allows companies to account for carbon in a cost-effective manner and offset it by purchasing quality carbon credits created via verified projects. Trace chooses carbon credits from projects that deliver measurable benefits aligned to the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

What makes Trace a great investment?
Trace democratises access to carbon accounting for businesses and drives carbon accountability at scale. Research finds that at least 60% percent of workers want their employers to take action on social and environmental issues. Yet many SMEs do not have sufficient resources to hire external consultants or maintain in-house capability for carbon accounting and offsetting.
The Trace platform allows SMEs to bridge emissions data gaps using its systems to achieve the best possible estimate without the burden of data collection on the client. Trace also provides its clients with access to high-quality carbon offset credits in order to offset their emissions.

Led by Founders, Cat Long and Joanna Auburn, the Trace team comprises powerful professionals working collaboratively to accomplish the company’s mission. Cat brings to the table years of experience in partnerships, having driven a range of projects in the renewable energy space and using human-centred design to solve problems, as well as 4 years of experience at Macquarie. Joanna’s strengths are CRO & growth, bringing with her a Masters in Sustainable Civil Engineering and a wealth of knowledge on the capabilities required to meet the Paris agreement.
The company provides accessible capabilities to service both companies and individuals, addressing SDG-12 – Responsible Consumption and Production, by encouraging people to decrease their carbon emissions by using more sustainable products and services, and SDG-13 – Climate Action – encouraging companies to reduce their carbon footprint and offset existing emissions through high-quality carbon offset credits.
At present, Trace customers have made 50,000 tonnes of carbon offsets, planted 300,000 trees, and have 180 companies that have measured their footprint with Trace.
